Post-Rain Sunset, July 29th
After a mostly overcast day with light showers, the cloud began to clear just in time for sunset. We haven't had many good sunsets this year, so I decided to get the camera out for this one. The clear air behind the cloud gave some very vivid colours. Firstly, a shot of the clearance approaching, with moisture, in the form of fractus, being drawn from the wet trees:
This soon cleared to reveal a sharp dividing line to the NW:
The lowering Sun began to under-light the cloud layers:
The colour became even more vivid towards the end of the display, with some interesting altocumulus formations:
A clear view to the NW revealed some fine ash veils still visible from the Russian volcanic eruption in early June:
