June 6th: Hilltop sunset, near Burley, New Forest
I anticipated a good sunset this evening due to a layer of thin cirrostratus that had moved over during the afternoon.
Luckily I was right, so I headed to some high ground in the southern New Forest to get some shots. Here, some cirrus wisps overhead, turned a very subtle shade of pink:
Further west, some good orange colours:
A zoom-in shows up the very fine detail in the cirrus layer with some atmospheric haze near the ground:
These aircraft contrails turned a copper colour in the sunset light, criss-crossing the sky. There were maybe 20 aircraft visible across the sky at any one moment:
