Day 13: Roswell, NM to Limon, CO

Today's storm risk was way up north in Colorado, so we headed out of Roswell and towards the Route 66 town of Tucumcari, NM for lunch. On the way we stopped to see a doppler radar site near Melrose, NM:

We stopped for lunch at a Route 66 diner in Tucumcari, NM and had a look at some of the historic buildings, including the Blue Swallow Motel and Tee Pee Curios:

We passed through the New Mexico border, up through the Oklahoma pan handle and into Colorado where we intercepted a nicely structured supercell. Unfortunately it fell apart again after sunset, but not before putting out a couple of very nice lightning strikes:
