USA Storm Chase 2016

Day 10: Limon, CO to Childress, TX

Day 10 was the last 'Chase' day of the tour, and given we were nearly 700 miles from DFW for our return flights, the plan was to drive back to Texas, but divert a few miles should a storm develop enroute:

As we neared Clayton, New Mexico, the radar started to look promising on a storm approaching from the west. We stopped to see what it would do and it started producing a really nice display of long-lasting CG lightning. They lasted over a second each, allowing daylight shots; something I've never been able to do in the UK and a nice surprise for our last chase day:

Some storms were trying hard to get going in the heat (95°F+) but most just couldn't sustain anything. Best storm of the day was near Karval State Wildlife Area, Colorado with some lightning and rumbles in the distance. We did have some fun on a dusty dirt road though:
