October 12th and 13th: Passing Anvils - South Hampshire
The weather around my birthday (12th) is usually fairly non-descript, so the heavy showers were a nice change this year, even if they all missed this location! The following shots are all from home as they were fairly fast-moving and I didn't feel the urge to drive to a better viewpoint! On the 12th a line of heavy showers formed in the early afternoon, with several developing one after the other, passing about 5 miles to my NE:
One of the following showers started from a large cumulus before rapidly glaciating:
The next day (13th) saw fewer showers generally in the area, but as the afternoon progressed some nice, isolated anvils appeared. This one was first spotted to the WNW:
Some strongish development on it's western edge:
It passed just to the west of here, by about a mile or less:
As sunset neared, another nicely isolated cell moved in from the same direction:
