June 22nd: Thundery Showers
Today, the storms were of the 'pulse' type, that is with very little wind shear to get things organised.
Nevertheless, some spectacular anvils formed with 2 thunderstorms rumbling away at once over the Forest.
This storm was just to the west of the storm above and was producing more thunder too. Some very heavy rain came from this cell with local flooding.
I drove inland to intercept the storms, as the coast was becoming clear due to a sea breeze. Some of the bases had nice structure, especially this gust front.
A few showers continued into the evening. This particular one produced several loud booms of thunder around 6:30 p.m.
