March 18th: Showers
The airstream on this day was northwesterly, pushing some of the showers out over the English Channel.
This one is seen just leaving the coast near Hengistbury Head, near Bournemouth.
Most cells died when they moved out over the cooler waters, but this one maintained it's vigor and formed a classic 'anvil' shape
just south of the Isle Of Wight.
Back inland, the showers were much heavier with more falls of hail.
Visibilities were dramatically reduced underneath them.
