October 21st: Milford, Hampshire

A line of coastal showers developed late afternoon along west Hampshire on this particular day. The cell in question was the strongest, and drained the energy out of nearby cells to quickly dominate. At Milford-On-Sea, there was hail on the ground as the cell moved away north-eastwards, the hailfall visible in the first image.

Hail Shower

The shower appeared to be weakly sheared and had a very pronounced line of cumulus feeding into the main updraught, to the left of the image below. Some pannus formed around the upper parts of the shower creating a veil-like cloud, partially obscuring the developing anvil above.
