July 3rd, 2007: First sighting of 2007

The first sighting this year and only my second sighting overall. It was just as good as last year's and again first appeared around 2240 BST.

The location here is about 2 miles from Burley in the New Forest, looking north. Only a few people in the UK saw this display as it was mostly overcast throughout the country. Some of the cloud resembled drifting smoke, especially to the right of the photo:

This display didn't last quite as long as last July's, becoming very feint around 2330 BST, before fading completely before midnight:
